Kolkata Municipal Corporation board dissolved, Smita Pandey takes charge as 'administrator'
Chaos broke out onboard an IndiGo flight bound for Krabi, Thailand, after the pilot declined to operate the aircraft beyond prescribed duty hours. Flight 6E 1085, scheduled to depart Mumbai at 4:05 am on Thursday, was delayed by over three hours, sparking anger and confrontations among passengers. Videos circulating online showed flyers questioning crew members and shouting about disrupted travel plans.
In one clip, passengers could be heard alleging that the pilot refused to continue after exceeding duty limits, prompting a heated exchange inside the cabin. A flyer was seen verbally abusing a crew member, while another kicked the aircraft’s exit door during the commotion.
IndiGo later stated that the delay resulted from multiple operational factors, including late arrival of the incoming aircraft, air traffic congestion and crew duty timing restrictions. The airline said two passengers were declared unruly and deboarded for inappropriate behaviour, which caused additional delays. Meals and refreshments were offered during the wait, the statement added.
The flight, initially expected to land in Krabi at 10 am, finally reached at around 1 pm. IndiGo reiterated that safety and crew duty regulations cannot be compromised and expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers.
